Releasing🎬this🌻summer

Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia🐝Tech, Atlanta, GA, 🇺🇸) has once again been ranked #🥇for its AE-UG program (in the 2023 America’s Best Colleges edition of US News & World Report). Similarly, the 114-year-old Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has been consistently ranked by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GoI) as the #🥇university in bhārat by a huge margin (IISc’s score being 1.2 times that of the second-ranked university). Quite a few GT graduates have been on the IISc faculty for decades, including yours truly, & it’s high time 🕰️ GT students get to credit courses at IISc.

Enkindling🧨what’s🪬envisioned to be a🧮sizeable🗓️annual🏫academic🧳pilgrimage, a batch of 🔟 Georgia Tech students are arriving at IISc this summer to credit 2️⃣ regular Georgia Tech (GT) courses, AE2220: Dynamics & AE3140: Structural Analysis, to be taught by me in a💥crash-course mode: jampacking 2️⃣ semesters into 🔟 weeks.

They’ll be followed by 3️⃣ ISAE Supaero students👩‍🎓🧑‍🎓👨‍🎓from the Mecca of the European aerospace industry: Toulouse, France🇫🇷, who’ll study the entire🍁fall🍂semester at IISc. They’re all undergraduate (UG) students. These programs will be an exciting learning process for me personally as it'll be the very first time that I'll have the opportunity to teach UG courses in my highly-cherished quarter century of a most-enjoyable teaching career, catering exclusively to doctoral & masters students❣️

These two Study Abroad Programs (SAPs) are part of MoUs that we at NMCAD Lab were approached for by the 2️⃣ leading AE institutions in America & Europe: GT & ISAE Supaero, respectively. NMCAD AE was thus privileged to draft the agreements on behalf of IISc, with fantastic support, as always, from our Office of International Relations, in general, and Dr Amitā Snéh, the International Relations Officer, in particular. Though signed 3️⃣~4️⃣ years ago, integral to NMCAD’s Vision 20:20, their execution is befittingly happening in bhārat’s amrit-kāL, in general, & G20 presidency, in particular, thanks 🙏 to yet another collateral benefit of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the 🔟 GT students reside on the IISc campus for their 🔟-week tightly-packed study abroad program (May 22nd to July 26th), 6️⃣ more courses (MATH2552: Differential Equations, AE2010: Thermodynamics & Fluids Fundamentals, AE3530: System Dynamics & Vibration, AE3531: Control System Analysis & Design, AE4071: Rotorcraft Aeromechanics & AE4451: Jet🛩️& Rocket🚀Propulsion) will be taught by visiting colleagues from GT: GTA James Anderson, Prof (Emeritus) Jechiel I Jagoda & Prof Jonnalagadda VR Prasad, who is also perseveringly coordinating the program. As per our institutional agreement, all the above 🎱 Georgia Tech courses will be open for up to 🔟 IISc students, capped either on a first-come, first-served basis or to applicants with the top ten CGPAs.

In future editions of this program, I’ve also been requested to consider teaching 2️⃣ generic college of engineering courses, namely COE2001: Statics & COE3001: Mechanics of Deformable Bodies. Incidentally, most of these courses to be taught by me were so enthusiastically taught by my brilliant PhD advisor Prof Dewey Harper Hodges, for several years at Georgia Tech, before he passed away last year. While many illustrious👩‍🎓alumni🧑‍🎓offer millions of💰to their alma mater, I’m overwhelmed by the humbling possibility of a kārmik guru dakṣiṇā.

Optionally, a few GT students will register with me for formal UG research credits (1 to 12) via AE4699. As the period is short & jam-packed (by a factor of 8:3 times the normal hours/weekly credit load), research projects need to be very clearly defined with weekly milestones & leverage the student's background, however minimal it might be, considering that they're latently-potent UGs.

Thanks to all NMCADets for their sincere efforts in making this happen: A💭dream to🔄reverse brain🧠drain🚰has just begun: nālandaḥ 4.0❕In fact, I had half a mind to expand the acronym “🔟W⨒NGS” as “🔟-Week🇮🇳Intro🧭to🏫Nālandaḥ✈️4🐝Georgiatech🎓Students,” instead of “🔟-Week🇮🇳Indian🧭Navigation✈️for🐝Georgiatech🎓Students⚠️”

Warmest🪷regards
