Let us Unite!!
Keeping your body healthy is an expression of gratitude to the whole cosmos: Thich Nhat Hanh
Happy Independence Day!
India, a country of diversity with different languages, cultures, ethnicity could unite to overthrow a foreign rule and obtain independence. We as a country had to undergo countless hardships under an alien rule but with unison and resolve, we could make an impossible task possible. A big salute to all the brave warriors who contributed towards creating a Free India, An India which has transformed and contributed in more ways than one over the years to the world.
India had to start from the scratch and is now a power to reckon with, leading in all walks of life across the globe. The people of India who are the real strength have made tremendous contributions in all spheres thereby making the country proud. This strength has to be shielded so that the nation can advance to greater heights in the future.
“ It is health that is the real wealth, not pieces of gold and silver”- Mahatma Gandhi.
The entire world and our country in particular are passing through testing times in management of health of its people. The disease burden has now moved from the communicable to the non-communicable category with parts of the country still grappling with both. The hitherto unknown bugs are making an entry thus abolishing the prevailing health care systems. The lifestyle changes have correspondingly contributed towards an unhealthy society with heaps of co-existing morbidity.
It is time for us to unite yet again and this time to create a healthier ME who will contribute towards a healthier society in turn leading to a healthier state and the country. Health is a state of physical, mental and social well-being and Prevention plays a very important role in maintaining health. We all need to strive towards maintaining a healthy life style which are very simple tasks in Prevention but largely ignored leading to morbidity and mortality. Let us resolve on this Independence Day that we collectively will take the country on the healthier development path and contribute much greater by following a healthy life style
You must keep a strict eye on your health; let everything else be subordinated to that.– Swami Vivekananda

How well articulated and the message by our dear bureaucrat couldn’t have been timed any better ... on this Independence Day I optimistically anticipate that “Healthy Me“ becomes our new National Motto urging our Nationals to strive towards getting Independence from Man-made Diseases and Disasters both physical & mental; environmental & territorial!

Let me congratulate the well-accomplished guest author Sri, Rathan Kelkar for presenting this timely article on the eve of our 74th Independence Day 2020. Besides being short and sweet, it conveys a long and valuable message. It is never too late to get started on the journey of our heath. As suggested by the author, let us all process our thoughts with a pledge “My health is my responsibility’ and let us become accountable to it. Good health calls for time, effort and lifestyle changes! Let this pandemic year 2020, be a year in which we have time to think health, feel health and talk health. I convey my kudos to the author for reminding us about the importance of good health in these hard times. I wish him, all other readers and Katham’s team a Happy Independence Day!

As rightly said, "A sound mind lives in a sound body" and so does the progress and prosperity of oneself, the family, the society, the nation and the global kutumbh. Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam! Take care of yourself, physically and especially your thoughts to alleviate any sort of invisible yet lethal thought pollution. Rise & Shine! Together we can and we will! Keep inspiring. Bliss!
