Four days ago, Father’s 👨 Day sales may have flopped for its promoters, but it’s once again time for us to celebrate the fundamental dad-daughter pair of Mr. Nothingness & Ms. Everythingness together. On the dual occasions of Amrita-Lakshmi Vrata & Devambudhi-Eswara Ratha today, allow me to wish you an ever-enduring graciousness & resplendently-divine intelligence in your journey of life as a penance, to unravel the ultimate goal 🎯 of immortality right here & now.

Devambudhi-Eswara Ratha is the chariot festival of a temple🛕 in East Mysuru besides an irrigation💦 facility, both of which were built by an erstwhile Wodeyar queen👸🏻 by the same name (Devaja-ammani), renowned for her philanthropy, despite her best efforts to avoid the credit or the limelight. On the other hand, Amrita-Lakshmi Vrata is a penance undertaken to invoke Lakshmi, in Her most supreme form & what’s that? Read on...

Today’s focus is thus on how to access

  1. universal intelligence <devambudhi>, which is intuitively omniscient, as opposed to mere individual intellect <buddhi>, which is self-limited in its scope; &
  2. eternal wealth <a-mrita-laksh-mi> as opposed to fleeting wealth, that many of us might already be aware of!

Yes, Amrita Lakshmi is beyond the well-known concept of ashta-Lakshmi or eight Lakshmis associated with eight types of mundane wealth:

  1. metaphysical 🕉 (Aadi/Maha),
  2. agricultural 🌾(Dhaanya),
  3. educational📚(Vidya/Aishwarya),
  4. financial₹/💰(Dhana),
  5. genetic🧬(Santaana👶🏻/Vara),
  6. royal👑/vehicular🚘/HR👥/cattle🐮(Rajya/Gaja🐘)
  7. military👮‍♀️(Veera/Dhairya) &
  8. success✌️(Jaya/Vijaya)

Today’s dominant eigenmode of Amrita Lakshmi is only for those who’ve gone beyond their desires for the above eight categories, yes... not only the last seven listed spatially-bounded physical desires but even the very first temporally-bounded metaphysical one that Aadi Lakshmi herself amongst the Ashta Lakshmis can grant!

Such an extraordinarily special Lakshmi calls for a unique invocation too, befitting Her boundless♾ nature! So, setting aside the more popular & most ancient hymn🎶 describing & ‘adoring’ 🥰 Lakshmi, namely the Sri Suktam, for an even more famous Vrata & festival coming up next month, I’ll focus today on another lesser-known & esoteric, yet equally-ancient, ‘wisdom’ scripture, dedicated to Lakshmi.

One of the minor upanishads of the Rig-Veda describes the esoteric significance of focused targeting <lakshya/Lakshmi> for any individual in the yogic path of union with the universal <Vishnu> & is called the Sau-bhagya-lakshmi Upa-nishad. The ‘sau’ in this context isn’t the literary 💯, but a metaphor for the uncountable ♾ / immeasurable fortune🔮<bhagya> of aiming for the truth <lakshya/Lakshmi> here & now, while being seated <nishad> stably & comfortably, with unwavering attention, in the proximity <upa> of the one who dispels the darkness <gu-ru> of our ignorance. The latter will be specially honoured in exactly 10 days from now. The exciting countdown for Guru Purnima has begun!

While invoking Lakshmi today, one can never ignore the infinitely ♾ profound machinery <yan-tra> of the wheel of prosperity <Sri-chakra> & temple architecture. Nor can we ignore the one-on-one-on-one (sic) mapping of the basic elements of every sri-chakra & temple to the chakras in our own physical body. As I was explaining yesterday to a retired teacher of English & biology, reinventing herself for the new norm of online delivery of knowledge, “Geometry plays a crucial role for everything in nature as well as yoga🧘‍♀️ & Shilpa/agama sastra, based on which temples🛕 are built as a projection of our own body.

The reason for giving so much of prominence to geometry is that form is directly correlated with the energy flow patterns within us & in our environment. Hence, by appropriately shaping, sizing & consecrating the structures that we 🏡dwell/work in or, for that matter, even the objects that we frequently use/interact with, one can easily & effortlessly access/tap into the preferred energy modes. The motivational idea behind the design is to capture & focus as much of the divine energy into the temple as possible so that it becomes a recharging ⚡️ station for the devotees.

That’s why our elders👵👴🏻 insist that we need to sit silently 🤫 with vertically-erect & unsupported backs in the stabilising lotus, power or diamond 💎 postures <padmasiddhaor vajra asana> with eyes 👀 closed in 🧘‍♀️ deep contemplation 🧘‍♂️ within the temple 🛕premises, at least for a few minutes 🕰 so that the recharging 🔌 takes place effectively. This in fact is the most important, but unfortunately overlooked aspect today of any temple visit.”

AUM Mahadevyaicha vidmahe,

Vishnupatnyaicha 🦅dhimahi,

tanno Lakshmi 🦉prachodayaat!

🕉Devambudhishwaraya 🔱namaha🙏!
