śrī nāradā maha-rśī is a living example of the fact that a teacher is better known by the students she/he sculpts, rather than the teachers who sculpted her/him. Jazzing up his CV is the fact that he’s the guru of
- the world’s first-ever poet, ādi kavi vālmīki;
- the world’s first-ever editor, véda vyāsā, whose b’day was just 4 days back;
- the world’s most popular bhaktā, hanumān, who’s the next brahmā, et al.
merely by virtue of his devotedly-repeated chanting <japā> of “nār-āyaN, nār-āyaN,” literally the “direction of our life’s journey <jīvan yātrā>,” thus emphasising on relishing the process here & now of the trip at hand, rather than stressing & fretting about the ultimate destination of mōkśā.
The chant was of course to the tune of his single-stringed 🪕ek-tāra, a practical demonstration of the one-pointed focus which patanjali maharśī refers to as dhāranā, a prerequisite for meditation 🧘♀️ <dhyānā>.
This un-locked-down mischievous integrator, thanks to a universal visa & open flight tickets, has unlimited access to anywhere anytime! So do most of us today, enabled as we’re with our mobile phones & the internet!!! Endowed thus with the same privileges as this embodiment of bhakti, śrī nāradā, we now also have the responsibility to be devoted to all that we do, communicate, think & feel.
Whether one is a homemaker, scientist, artist, medico, engineer, parent or in any other capacity/profession whatsoever, no one has ever been successful in the long term without being one-pointedly devoted to whatever the hell they do. Fully nurtured, this dimension of devotion alone is sufficient to relish our most significant inner yātrā towards mōkśā too. Have an ecstatically-blissful day in utter devotion, inspiring the rest of your life to follow suit.
And do check the hot 🥵 & fresh musical 🎶 video linked above revealing hitherto untold secrets 🤐of nāradā maha-rśī’s chant!!!
