“So disappointed India abstained… wrong side of history. When China does invade India & the US brings a resolution to condemn China, we can depend on the geniuses in Indian government to abstain from that vote 😤,” my buddy sarcastically concluded.
This is unfortunately the stand of many otherwise sane & accomplished Indians too. But there’s nothing to be surprised & I don’t blame them for it. Instead, it’s Macaulay at play! His ☠️ fossilising remains ⚰️ must be having a good laugh 😹in his 💯 century-old cemetery 🪦, 163 to be precise!
So, here’s my public response to my dear buddy & bro 😎:
Well, every story has at least two sides to it. And, history has far more! A predominant sector of the Western media continues to give a myopic vision both in space & time to its gullible consumers, oversimplifying geography & history respectively, both of which along with the economic, local, social, religious & linguistic ambitions are crucial to understanding the developing geo-political scenarios.
And, the trendsetting Western media is not the only well-known dubious source of news. Russian media like RT perhaps do the same to some extent. Nonetheless, the truly discerning amongst us should at the least have the patience to gather ample info from both ends of this spectrum of half-baked facts, instead of arriving at sweeping over-simplified conclusions like my dear friend’s.
Considering the lopsided media that we’re all familiar with, I love 💗 media houses like Republic India 🇮🇳 & RT 🇷🇺 for the balance which they bring to the table, though the latter is quite explicably being banned by many Western nations now who don’t want their people to know the unsavoury truths of their own wrongdoings, just like the Chinese 🇨🇳 regime has been censoring information ℹ️, though far more brazenly.
Those of you who can’t access RT due to such embargoes, or are allergic to it, can at the very minimum take a look at the University of Chicago’s viral videos of Prof John Mearsheimer who very logically calls out both the pot & the kettle’s black marks, based entirely on facts & supported by data. Also strongly recommended reading for you all is sākét suryéś’s article in OpIndia on the same subject.
Forget Cuba 🇨🇺 ❣️What if comic puppet regimes were installed by Russia 🇷🇺 in the immediate neighbourhood of the US 🇺🇸 in the facade 🎭 of promoting “democracy⁉️” Suppose Justin Trudeau & Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador were comedians installed at the helm of their respective countries by Vladimir Putin. Would Joe Biden patiently wait for a decade before attacking such a Russian-controlled Mexico 🇲🇽 &/or Canada 🇨🇦? He wouldn’t even bat an eyelid, lest he face impeachment! Would the British 🇬🇧 PM then similarly dare call Joe “a mad man⁉️” What adjective would then be suitable for Joe’s well-known puppeteer, George, with or without his sores⁉️
When the US 🇺🇸 does invade such Russian-controlled regimes in Mexico 🇲🇽 or Canada 🇨🇦 & let’s say Russia 🇷🇺 brings in a resolution to condemn the US 🇺🇸, you can depend on the geniuses in the Indian 🇮🇳 government to abstain from that vote too 😤‼️
Coming back to today’s reality, those of us shedding genuine tears 😭 for the hundreds being killed in the ongoing war shouldn’t forget the thousands of innocent civilians in the Donbas region who’ve been silently decimated by the US-installed puppets in the Ukrainian civil war raging for a decade after they overthrew a democratically-elected regime in a US-sponsored coup. Else, our tears would become mere crocodile 🐊 tears 😭.
It’s easy to oversimplify & blame Putin for everything. Nonetheless, it’s to the credit of a visionary & all-inclusive PM mōdiji, for whom no one’s a pariah, to be amongst the first international leader to have spoken to Putin in the immediate aftermath of the launch of invasive action. That’s not just because we’ve long-standing strategic partnerships with the Russians, but some introspection into the bigger picture reveals the story hidden from a majority of us by most media houses:
The true causes of the current situation are not Putin’s ambitions but the relentless NATO military expansion, the post-USSR EU 🇪🇺 economic expansion & the facade of democratic/orange 🍊 expansion to install Western puppets too, all three of which have already touched the borders of Russia! The colonial “divide & rule” policy underlying these three-pronged efforts has in this century gone way beyond last century’s breakup of the Soviet Union, with few parallels such as akhand bhārat.
Now coming to the Indian position at the UN, I can’t keep quiet 🤐 when our own fellow citizens & NRIs criticize our country’s well-thought-out position, without a sincere effort expended at understanding facts from multiple points of view. Since I’ve done such due diligence already, I’m only explaining the truth to my brethren in a friendly way, maybe with an occasionally humorous banter for banter.
And, let it be amply clear that India 🇮🇳 has abstained, & not supported the aggressive response of Russia 🇷🇺 to years of bullying by the far more notorious West at its own neighbourhood. You can hear all the arguments put forth by the Indian representatives at 🇺🇳 UNGA & UNSC. The recordings are available for anyone to check out before jumping the bandwagon.
In fact, India 🇮🇳 has been critical of the ongoing war, but in a sane & balanced manner, because the original source of all this trouble has been 🇺🇸 the US-led West’s aggressive stance over a century in Asia, in general, & in the last few decades in Vietnam 🇻🇳, Afghanistan 🇦🇫, Iraq 🇮🇶, Ukraine 🇺🇦 etc., in particular, leading to the Frankenstein rise of the Al Qaida, Taliban, ISIS, IS et al.
As a nation, 🇮🇳 we’ve actually put up a strong face to call out the hypocrisy of the West at condemning the very fire 🔥 that they themselves have surreptitiously ignited. Bhārat 🇮🇳 is fully aware of the consequences of such a unique stance & also the danger of being bracketed & bucketed with the UAE 🇦🇪 & China 🇨🇳, fully aware that their reasons for abstention were entirely different from ours.
Our Operation gaNgā 🏞 has so effectively brought back more than a thousand Indians, mostly medical students, stranded in the war zone & will continue to do so, thanks to four union ministers personally & physically overseeing the operations from Romania 🇷🇴, Hungary 🇭🇺, Moldova , Poland 🇵🇱 & Slovakia 🇸🇰. In fact, since the times of śrīmati suśmā svarājji, bhārat has been known for such humanitarian efforts in refugee evacuation not only of NRIs/PIOs/OCIs but also refugees of other nationalities.
Considering the massive supply over the years of arms & ammunition by Ukraine 🇺🇦 to rogue nations like Pakistan 🇵🇰, India 🇮🇳 could have even considered voting 🗳 against the UN 🇺🇳 resolution condemning Russia 🇷🇺 but we only abstained, demonstrating the restraint that’s indicative of a consciously responsible superpower in the making. Indeed, with great power comes great responsibility, even if that means walking the talk in solitude‼️
I request the inquisitive reader to please peruse this article one more time. You can then clearly observe that nowhere in it have I berated anyone’s suffering but have only enlarged the scope of our empathy towards all those who’ve suffered in this long-standing conflict with multiple stakeholders & defended India’s position of non-aligned neutrality. Ought to defend 🇮🇳 bhārat’s responsible role… that’s my Self-enabled duty! May mahāśivarātri tomorrow bring back some of the sanity in the understanding that “destruction” can also at times be constructive, iff done consciously.
